The danger of elected ones succumbing to populism and subverting the very basis of the system they get elected by, has been a known downside of representative democracies. To check that only, other independent wings of control, moderation and justice had been created the world over. Those who are expected to be wise must speak with responsibility and before that must get elected themselves.
