Political arrogance

If today any political entity, blind with arrogance as reflected in widespread manifestation through social media posts from the supporters of its ideology, wants to regain ground it must introspect and control the self appointed trolls who are going berserk on its behalf.

Despite not being in politics, as a responsible citizens we all have right to discuss politics albeit responsibly, with ability to manage debates over divergent views. I will like to say to some of my friends here on social media who are very caustic and generally angry for no reasons, that nothing is as poisonous for self destruction as the arrogance. And mind you no one, ever has been able to survive the damage, arrogance brings. Never. Period.

Women too possess all attributes of being a 'human'

Women too possess all attributes of being a 'human': passion, empathy, sympathy, love , hatred, cunning, cheating and being mean.

They can be as vicious as any other human . They scheme, they kill, they bring false accusations to denigrate men and others of their own ilk. Women,  also,  do everything for which man goes to jail including rape. They bring false cases against their husbands , But it's blasphemous to speak up against women harassment.

Every second day courts are dismissing false cases brought against innocent husbands and ex boyfriends . But how to get the lost honor back?

Many women are climbing corporate ladders using fuel of passion and threats they regularly issue to their male colleagues.

Indira: great speeches don't make great leaders, great deeds do

Those who lived her days know how bravely Indira led the country.

She offered to sacrifice her Govts in several states where peace was negotiated particularly in northeast. Not grabbing or manipulating to cling to power. From Assam to Mizoram and Nagaland secessionists who laid arms were offered to run governments to make them feel one with nation.

Sam earned maximum respect from Indian public. There are 100 Bharat Ratna but just two FM. Indira can’t be pitched on supremacy with Sam who had different assignment and no direct accountability to public. Sam was great on his own accord. It is surprising that the war which technically lasted one and half years since the time West Pakistanis started their nefarious atrocities over Bengalis, is a fortnight battle for ignorants. Such defining wars are fought with toughest political acumen as Indira displayed and best military might and leadership as Sam Manekshow provided.

It was Indira who delivered ace every time she had to stand against US or China or Pakistan. She would have been last to send her Foreign Minister with suitcase full to negotiate with terrorists.

I am quite sure that many were not even present to situation in Punjab when India had almost lost it and how she took stand which she knew would give her opponents chance to speak ill about even 30 years later. But she boldly saved Punjab for us. Great speeches don't make great leaders , great deeds do.

Party paying price for failing to defend itself: politics on insurgency

Those who were either born much later and have no inclination to have research of their own or those who perhaps had no access to news those days show blatant ignorance of facts about what was happening to Punjab and India during years starting from Janta Govt of 1979 ( period when first non-congress Govt took root and we were first time coming to terms with local insurgency, police rebellion and several new means of protest) and all  to almost 1995( when sikh insurgency was effectively contained) , peaking with Indira's death in between.

Punjab was once almost lost.

Several times more innocent people than what Delhi witnessed aftermath of Indira's assassination, were killed in cold blood , driven out of buses , cars and homes during that period. For 15 years there were no night bus service in whole of North india for fear of militant attacks. Most of the towns and villages in punjab, Haryana, Himachal used to be under formal or informal curfew every night and it went on for many years. What happened in Delhi and all over India after Indira's death were riots initiated by political master of all colors, not just Congress. The actors on ground as always, were same which we see even today leading the riots, they don't change.

Innocent Sikhs had to pay the price. And Congress is paying price for not defending itself. That's shameful of its present leadership. Indira had been finest of our Prime ministers who led country through most tumultuous period yet crafted a winner nation proud of its achievements. Turned India to definite nuclear power when the whole world was divided into warring geo-political factions, won most decisive and quickest wars for the country and broke enemy's back .

The period of sikh insurgency led by Bhindrawale was leading India to yet another partition and someone had to bite the bullet. She did that. Her decision may not be liked by all or might have been wrong but that question was not raised by staunchest of her political opponents that time because they too were with her on that. In fact there were all round jubilations on hearing Bhindrawale's death.

Why celebrate hanging ?

I feel surprised at the reaction of most of the public to the hanging of Kasab. It can be possible that death penalty may serve as deterrent ( and hence acceptable) but to celebrate hanging is an abhorrent act. Kasab must have been 19 or 20 when initiated into dirty world of extremism and radical fanaticism. Let me remind my friends here who have sons of that age and must be knowing how tender this age is.

Kasab was turned into a machine programmed to kill. Those who did so are still at large , Many radical cults (of all religions) have been into this brainwashing and those who lead these indoctrination schools continue to thrive socially and politically on both sides of the border . It was surprising to listen to views of some of prominent citizens , housewives and even children speaking mean and derogatory language on the hanging on national channels.

Something is amiss somewhere in our grooming as mature nation.

My view is against celebration of hanging and not to glorify terrorism. I was 100 feet away when that blast ripped Air India Building in 1992 and had seen Mumbai riots very closely in '93. I too understand what terrorism means to us as Indian and that it must to be brutally eradicated. But while doing so we need to be firm (as the Govt. at least this time showed) but still losing on dignified behavior, we are well known and respected for.

Living Powerfully : mail to my Landmark coach

After taking a break of over a year from Landmark space I felt like missing on something and decided to go back . It proved a rewarding opportunity to create something critically important to me.

At the end of session #1 my Team Communicator asked me about what I wish to achieve or accomplish by the end of Seminar. Repaying Home loan had been big drain on my resources with large interest burden and principal painfully slow to move down. I had it always at back of my mind and in my financial plans that my Home loan is a perpetual drain for several more years and I would have to live with that. It was so well known and predictable. Responding to the trigger from the distinctions of Living Life Powerfully Seminar , out of box I gave my words to myself that I will repay my loan in next 2-3 months. And immediately, without knowing ways to accomplish this, I became present to the powerful context of financial freedom this would bring for me and my family. And having said that to myself , I started getting insights to the means , blind spotted so far, revealing out in front and moving me into actions.

Nothing works without integrity was powerfully calling me into action and together with distinctions like 'being unreasonable' , by the end of session #3, I have been able to repay half of my home loan with ease . It is new freedom I am experiencing and now that I have spare financial capacity , it's moving me further into more actions. Thank you Sushila who is leading this Seminar here at New Delhi, Radhika , Communicator for our group and all of you who are part of this wonderful space.

Radio Jhootistan

Radio Jhootistan the satirical skit on All India Radio mocking Pakistani propaganda during '71 was hit among us children. Against tense blackouts in evenings and scary briefings in schools by army jawans , Radio Jhootistaan was perfect getaway. We siblings and friends used to enjoy it and gossip about the Pakistani defeats and had also jingles made for Bhoto which we used to sing loudly.
I vividly recall my father pasting carbon papers brought from office on window panes to block any light going out in night during blackouts. There were several trenches made near our locality for safety. When Pakistani attack happened on 3rd December children out of curiosity ran to higher places to see the night sparks in air.

slaughtering

Some times slaughtering happens on some community occasions and becomes part of festivity ( and debate !!). Otherwise more than 150 Billion animals are slaughtered every year, only miniscule are religious sacrifices.
Most of us are enjoying the meat products religion or no religion without remorse. If you witness killing it's always cruel- few seconds more or less depending on the way one butchers

Politics of PR campaigns (16/09/13)

Ease with which instantaneous and almost hysterical mass public mobilization could be achieved successfully was demonstrated by grand Ganesha Drinking Milk experiment not long back that too without social media. It's embarrassing recalling those moments today.

The present phenomena are sheer hammering of collective psyche of section of populace of proven gullibility, smartly exploited by paid PR agencies commissioned for rumor mongering. There is deluge of professionally created content, which is distinctly recognizable, in form of jokes and social media posts which is driving this campaign.

The biggest strength of campaigns is not the projection of strong points of their client but the jokes and cartoons making fun of competitors which fill our facebook pages /twitter and whatsapp everyday. The abusive and below the belt content of campaign we are encountering speaks volume about the kind and quality of leadership we will get if these people succeed. Social media and of course few channels controlled indirectly by big business houses, we all know these by now, , are making it appear as if whole nation is going mad over new dreams . It's succeeding to some extent in influencing, unfortunately, that section of public which is educated and uses gadgets on go.

It may succeed over others too if their congress continues to fail in countering it with equally innovative way. This of course is aided by actions/inaction of congress on two accounts - it's own efforts of bringing transparency in administration which is exploited by their opponents within and outside to inundate it with accusations of corruption of mockingly unbelievable and impossible proportions and their inability to counter it with modern effective tools.

Ghananand Khanduri

He lived an inspirational life impacting at least four generations during his time , many directly nurtured and led by him and Nani. I happen to read his reminiscences from pages of his diary which he penned about 80 years ago. The words portray grit and vision of a young man who was destined to inspire and rear two generations under his care and led them to outshine his own humble living proudly later. Undoubtedly a great man.

‘The Distance’ by Saborna Roychowdhury: comment

You wrote a pretty fine book.
The content was delivered over language we, the readers, felt comfortable receiving and relishing. I don't recall if you , at some place , omitted a comma or forgot to capitalize a word but I do remember how a newly wed girl in a distant place spent her day rearranging her flat several times over , just to kill time. That must have been some experience poured into the story. The ease with which you made us empathize with the characters was what was needed from a good book a reader was to spend valuable time enjoying with . I bet, those you once met at Puja Pandal, must have been pedantic cynics looking for excuse to showcase their pseudo-bhardralok up bringing. Ignore them. I remember one of your posts referencing snakes , eunuchs , crazy drivers you had expected during that visit to Kolkata. You were prepared !!!

Indian business community must introspect.

Indian business community must introspect.
For centuries they avoided innovations and refrained from providing quality to consumers. Shopkeepers had known to be most arrogant and inconsiderate towards clients. Depriving Indian consumers options to choose best product his money could buy, will be undemocratic and unjustifiable.
Many Indian businesses are standing up to the global competition with offerings of quality products. That should be the spirit. You want Airtel n Mahindra to go global but don't want Walmart to compete here. Wah.
In 1947 av. salary of Indians used to be in range of Rs 50 to Rs 100 so were commodity pricing. And Rs value was administered. Even today if foolishness prevails one Rs can be matched to one dollar by Govt orders but consequences will leave you way behind in deep pit and economic slavery. Politicians cleverly play on public gullibility.

Relax, India was developing fast even before 2014

Most of the nations, which came into existence during the period India led the struggle to remove colonial powers and won, perished for want of effective and cohesive leadership. We were lucky to have visionary leaderships from every walk of political and social space which collectively ensured that during most difficult nascent time of our coming into existence India not just survived but emerged as strong country.
There was time not very long ago when crossing 50 years of age on average for an Indian was not common. Malnutrition and poverty was rampant. You can recall how many of the people known to you in older generations had suffered from smallpox and other ailments. And now remember that very leadership you call weak thought of giving precedence to modern farming, dams , steel plants, world class medical and technical education and to science and technology despite all odds.
It takes about 40 - 50 years of gestation to master nuclear and space technology. If those days in early fifties we had not started baby feet in that direction what rockets and bombs we could talk about today.
Relax. Look ahead with all thanks to the strong foundation our founders left for us. And also remember that they were all elected like any of the present day leaders and had won repeated mandate to lead and govern several times over. Present govt may also have good intentions for welfare of this country but that can be praised independently of blaming the past. This would earn respect.
The fake news channels and portals often quoted to support idiotic arguments that India started developing from 2014 only , brings more damage to us than any enemy would ever because these are gnawing at fundamentals of our unity and creating chasms among people. This is exactly what our adversaries would like us to indulge.
