You wrote a pretty fine book.
The content was delivered over language we, the readers, felt comfortable receiving and relishing. I don't recall if you , at some place , omitted a comma or forgot to capitalize a word but I do remember how a newly wed girl in a distant place spent her day rearranging her flat several times over , just to kill time. That must have been some experience poured into the story. The ease with which you made us empathize with the characters was what was needed from a good book a reader was to spend valuable time enjoying with . I bet, those you once met at Puja Pandal, must have been pedantic cynics looking for excuse to showcase their pseudo-bhardralok up bringing. Ignore them. I remember one of your posts referencing snakes , eunuchs , crazy drivers you had expected during that visit to Kolkata. You were prepared !!!
