I feel surprised at the reaction of most of the public to the hanging of Kasab. It can be possible that death penalty may serve as deterrent ( and hence acceptable) but to celebrate hanging is an abhorrent act. Kasab must have been 19 or 20 when initiated into dirty world of extremism and radical fanaticism. Let me remind my friends here who have sons of that age and must be knowing how tender this age is.
Kasab was turned into a machine programmed to kill. Those who did so are still at large , Many radical cults (of all religions) have been into this brainwashing and those who lead these indoctrination schools continue to thrive socially and politically on both sides of the border . It was surprising to listen to views of some of prominent citizens , housewives and even children speaking mean and derogatory language on the hanging on national channels.
Something is amiss somewhere in our grooming as mature nation.
My view is against celebration of hanging and not to glorify terrorism. I was 100 feet away when that blast ripped Air India Building in 1992 and had seen Mumbai riots very closely in '93. I too understand what terrorism means to us as Indian and that it must to be brutally eradicated. But while doing so we need to be firm (as the Govt. at least this time showed) but still losing on dignified behavior, we are well known and respected for.
